Division & Project Overview 
The International Development Group is one of three international program divisions and manages health field programs funded by USAID and CDC in Africa and the Latin America region with key focus areas improving health systems performance, including management support systems, and quality of care in maternal and child health, family planning, HIV/AIDS, TB and nutrition. 
Roles and Responsibilities: 
This individual will be supporting the Associate Director in overseeing budgeting and expenditure monitoring processes for the division and for coordinating with other departments and staff to ensure contractual compliance with financial requirements. Additional responsibility include support to the team of Project Coordinators and Assistants. The position supports health projects in Africa and Latin America Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 
Ensure that all projects are complying with internal financial controls.
Review and verify field financial reports, including spot checking back-up documentation, monitoring clearance of exceptions and compliance with deadlines. Support Project Coordinators and field teams to submit complete and accurate reports.
Develop systems and tools for tracking Division financial processes and assist with identifying solutions to challenges that arise.
Review subcontractor/sub-recipient vouchers, check requests, and travel expense statements and track timely reconciliation of all Division advances.
Prepare and/or review financial reports and analyses in collaboration with Project Coordinators.
Support Project Coordinators to track expenditures against obligations or fixed price amounts, and with reviewing and troubleshooting project-level financial tracking spreadsheets.
Project Division indirect expenditures, track, against budgets and provide monthly performance analyses.
Participate in project financial check-in meetings and prepare status reports following each meeting.
Provide financial training to Project Coordinators, field staff on a variety of issues including budgeting, cost reporting, tracking, etc.
Assist with proposal development and provide support for other ad-hoc projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications: 
Required Experience & Qualifications 
Note: You must currently be eligible to work legally and on a long-term basis in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship. 
Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field required, MBA or related Masters degree highly preferred.
3-5 years of experience with costing, budget preparation, or other financial management.
Prior experience working in developing countries and ability to apply financial concepts to the international development context are preferred.
Flexible and able to handle multiple tasks and work collaboratively with others. Able to work independently in a fast-paced organization by prioritizing and managing multiple assignments.
Ability to interact effectively with all levels of internal and external clients.
Candidate must possess strong organizational, reasoning and analytical financial skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skills.
Detail oriented with desire to expand knowledge and add value to the organization.
Must be a quick learner and able to work with people in many locations.
Fluency in written and spoken English required. Proficiency in French or Spanish preferred.
Experience with US Government-funded programs and/or in an organization focused on international development is preferred.
Strong time management and organizational skills
Willingness to travel internationally at about 20%.
